The Year of Re-establishing Connections

Updated: Feb 12, 2021

A couple weeks ago, the City of Hamilton required the Hamilton Farmers' Market to close for 14 days due to construction in the building. Unlike many others, we have been fortunate enough to remain open since the pandemic began as we are considered "essential". This was the first time in the history of our business that we closed completely. During this short closure I was able to experience a different lockdown perspective, being out of work and essentially no communication with anyone outside of my lovely girlfriend & my dog Vinny.

Considering how social I normally am, I began to miss seeing my coworkers, my customers and my brother whom I work with; I realized how difficult the experience is for those completely working from home, those who are out of work for a long period of time, the most vulnerable, and those who no longer have anyone left in their inner circle even before Covid.

When we needed it most, online options have been there to socially close the gap between distant loved ones and we want to use some of the options available to us to show love and help you show love to those close to you.

After reopening we came together as a team and brainstormed the idea to work on connecting with others in #HamOnt not just in-store but through blogs and our online presence because although times have changed, we think staying connected with our communities is how we all come out on top. This is the beginning of Latin Foods & You, our online blog.

From simple recipes to non-food opinions we created a list of topics we are excited to write from. Leave a comment below and let us know if there is something you'd like to read about!
